Since 1997, I have provided podiatric care to central Iowa through the Johnston Foot & Ankle Clinic. I treat children and adults for a wide range of lower-leg, ankle, and foot conditions. A detailed list of the issues I treat can be found on the home page under Foot Care and Ankle Services.

My staff will take x-rays as needed and complete a health history to assist with diagnosis and treatment. I often recommend exercises to support healing, along with any additional treatments you may need.

 

As an avid athlete and outdoor enthusiast, I have a special interest in sports-related injuries and podiatric concerns. I utilize radial pulse therapy (RPT) and focal shockwave therapy (EPAT) to treat many foot and ankle problems. These physiotherapy and sports-medicine treatments provide fast pain relief and improved mobility. Both are non-surgical options that can reduce reliance on pain medications and accelerate recovery. The FDA has cleared RPT and EPAT for chronic foot, heel, and ankle pain, offering alternatives to steroid injections, long-term physical therapy, and even surgery. I’ve helped many patients suffering from long-standing plantar fasciitis return to a pain-free life.

 

I am a lifelong resident of the Des Moines community. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa and earned my doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Des Moines University.

Running is a true passion of mine, and I’ve completed multiple marathons, including the Boston Marathon. I also enjoy travel, hiking, and organic gardening. I live with my partner and our wonderful dog: Scout, a rescue beagle, and two cats Grace and Frankie.
