SHOCK WAVE THERAPIES
Both focal shock wave and radial shock wave therapies are cutting-edge, effective noninvasive treatment methods cleared by the FDA to treat chronic foot, heel and ankle pain. Both EPAT and RPT are alternative treatment options to steroid injections, lengthy physical therapy, walking boots and even surgery.
Johnston Foot and Ankle Clinic is the first clinic in Iowa to offer both innovative treatment therapies.
EXTRACORPOREAL PULSE ACTIVATION TECHNOLOGY
Extracorporeal pulse activation technology (EPAT) is based on a unique set of pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation and accelerate healing. The damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals.
RADIAL PULSE THERAPY
Radial Pulse Therapy (RPT) uses short, intense electromagnetic shock waves to treat musculoskeletal pain. It works by stimulating the breakdown of scar tissue and adhesions, creating increased blood circulation to the area to relieve pain, promote healing and improve range of motion. This treatment method targets tissue that traditional soft tissue therapy techniques often cannot reach.
